ManzaSport was present at the X World Padel Championship held in the Riviera Maya in Cancun.
You can follow us on Facebook and the Valencian super sport newspaper, where we narrate the successes of our athletes.
Since Spain won the double crown, managing to win in male and female categories against the Argentine teams. If in girls the favorites were ours, not so in the male category, where our team gave the surprise by winning the title of World Champions.
The female team final faced Spain and Argentina where the Spanish padel coach Pablo Mozo was confident.
A first point with a very experienced and veteran couple in these fights such as Carolina Navarro and Alejandra Salazar, with the idea of opening the scoreboard, and the truth is that they were not wrong, as our team ran over and opened the can.
In the second match, the coach counted on one of the revelation couples in the professional padel circuit in 2010, the twins Mapi and Mayo Sanchez Alaeto (towers), who, under pressure between and against the most veteran Argentines, Ceci Reiter and Silvana Campos, succumbed, but showed signs of padel, which they cherish.
With this result the final was tied, but Pablo Mozo had saved his best trick for the end, the couple who the day before had been proclaimed champions of the world of padel, Iciar Montes and Paty Llaguno, were the ones who should give us the final victory and so it was.
Spain finally champion of the female World Padel Championship.
With the girls’ title achieved, the national team of male padel didn’t want to be less.
Before the final, Jon García Ariño announced the couples nº1 Mieres – Lahoz, nº2 “the canaries” Jordi Muñoz and Aday Santana, and if necessary, as he told us, couple nº3 Pitu Losada and Paquito Navarro, leaving a weakened Raúl Arias on the bench.
We only had to wait for the Argentinean team and the truth is that it came out well.
Fernando Belasteguin and Maxi Gabriel started the tie against a very intoned Lahoz – Mieres who played at an exceptional level. They broke “Bela’s” first serve and held on to take the first set 6/3, the second set started with a hesitant Willy 0-40 on his serve, and ended with a world champion Willy, supported by “Magic” Juani Mieres, giving them a 6/1.
Things started well, Spain 1, Argentina 0.
It was the turn of “the canaries” who had to face a debutant F. Cavallieri who played together with a veteran and 5-time world champion Seba Nerone. For “the canaries” it will be the match of the year, the match of their career and of their life. They couldn’t do it better, just say Olé, olé and olé.
Jordi did not stop throwing chips and more chips, he got everything, he seemed to be touched by a magic wand, as well as his partner Aday Santana who ate Nerone.
Who said that the Spanish don’t feel the shirt? The Spanish padel players do feel it and they showed it in this Paddle World Tour.
6/3 6/1 was the score to such a match and therefore Spain was champion of the World Padel Championship for male teams.
The third match without history was played and won by a hurt Silingo – Cristina Gutierrez against our players, who were more focused on the chants of the crowd and the celebrations than on other things.
Spain world padel champions in male and female selections.
