A padel instructor is the figure of a person who teaches you to understand the sport of padel in all its aspects, from the basics such as the different materials used for the game and its characteristics such as the padel court, the padel racket, proper footwear, to the rules, technique, tactics, psychology, physical training and regulatory knowledge.
If you play padel and you are thinking of becoming an instructor, because you think you are good at it, we advise you to take the padel coach/instructor course from any of the federations accredited for it, because teaching padel is much more than just throwing balls.
But if you are already a qualified padel instructor, today we want to give you 10 tips for the organization of the practice, so you can make a proper programming.
- Number of students and age. It is very important that before you start your classes, you think about how many students should be in your classes and in what age groups you should divide them.
- Initial level of motor competence. It is important that before you begin teaching a group, you know what levels of motor skills your students have in order to adapt the lessons.
- Goals to achieve. It is easier to achieve a goal if you have set yourself a goal beforehand, so, as a coach/instructor, set some goals that you want to achieve with your students and try to reach them.
- Technique and tactics. It is very important that you do not downplay the importance of technique and tactics of the game, and that your students correctly learn each of the technical skills and tactics in real game situations.
- Don’t forget that there are rules and that they exist for a purpose. Your students need to know them so that in real game situations they know how to act if there are actions that are in doubt.
- It is important that you, as a padel coach/ instructor, set your own evaluation criteria for your students so that they can see the progress of their learning.
- We also advise you to establish criteria for correction in practice. These should be uniform criteria, because you can’t tell a student that today he/she doesn’t do one thing and the next day he/she does the same thing and congratulate him/her.
- Safety on the court is the basis for good development of the class, so objects considered dangerous for the good play will be eliminated. In this way, we limit the number of accidents.
