Consejos útiles para jugar al pádel

When playing padel, whether at amateur or professional level, there are some basic tips to enjoy the sport, but above all you need to be sporty and follow the rules of this sport set by the Spanish Padel Federation.

  1. Padel is a partner sport, so respect must be mutual between partners and opponents. Avoid commenting on your partner’s play, as it is a two-person affair, and saying “bajini”, whispering or commenting on your partner’s play can only make things worse. And speaking of opponents, let’s not forget that it’s a game and you should enjoy it.
  2. Good warm-up. The warm-up is a time to get into action, but it’s also a good time to analyze the situation. Analyze your opponents, assess the condition of the padel court, and if you are playing outdoors, the weather as well, as these are key points that can help or hinder the game.
  3. Safety in the game. The popular saying “who does not take risks does not win” is understandable, but it is not always true. Everyone should know their limitations, and playing the ball like you’re a professional player may not be the best option at a crucial moment. Keep a margin of safety in which you feel comfortable, and if you feel like taking a risk, do it, but remember that if you succeed, it won’t earn you double points.
  4. Use logic, there is no point in making a lot of strokes if you always use the same ones, it is a sport, and you have to try to use the right stroke at all times. It is clear that if you are a beginner, you still don’t know where the ball will fall to anticipate, it will take some time, but you can set a strategy for each game to try to evolve.
  5. Never give up. If sport teaches us something in general, it’s that participation is the most important thing, but it also teaches us to be competitive and find the strength to never give up in a game. If the ball is in play, there’s always a chance.
  6. Keep score. If the first 5 tips are important, don’t forget to keep score… because knowing where you are in the match can tell you how to play the ball, for example, if it’s a break ball.
  7. If there is a questionable ball, you should try to come to an agreement before calling the referee.
  8. Remember that in odd games you have 90 seconds not only to change sides of the court, but also to recover, hydrate, or rest.
  9. Remember to play balls to the center, this is a place where you take almost no risk and do a lot of damage to your opponents because of the uncertainty you create in the game. But don’t forget to cover the center when your opponent hits, because he may have the same idea.
  10. If you are going to play padel, don’t forget to bring a padel racket, a pack of balls and good shoes.
