Cañas and Espona declared Champions at the Lithuanian Open Lithuanian International Open

 

We are pleased to announce that one of the pairs of Manzasport team has conquered the Lithuanian lands. In the period from 30 June to 1 July, the prestigious Lithuanian International Open Championship held at the “Dubing Tennis and Padel Club”, located 60 km from the capital Vilnius. This test is FIP 100 and belongs to the round of the International Padel Federation.

Last September, Granadians Jerónimo Cañas and Eduardo Espona were declared champions in the Netherlands, and it was also a test of the FIP rating, and the category 100. The Granadians who are currently in position 184 of the world ranking for their recent important results, started as one of the favorite pairs to win this Championship. In the first semifinal they faced on the one hand the Galician pair, A. Molins and P. Bamonde against the best pair of Lithuania, T. Michelevicius and A. Draugelis. The latter won 7/5 and 6/1. Later the second semifinal was qualified, on the one hand two players of the Lithuanian Paddle Team, L. Pakula and S. Macinskas, and also the second of them is the number 1 of “Beach Tennis” of Lithuania.

The Nasrids won 6/3 and 7/6. In the final, Canas and Espona faced the executioners of the La Coruña pair. And they won 6/4 and 6/2 against T. Mikelevich and A. Draugelis. Eduardo Espona and Jero Canas received another very important international title, representing the province of Granada. Canas and Espona, in addition to competing, have taught padel “master class” to players/aces through the Lithuanian Padel Federation. Cañas says: ” We were surprised by the high level that there was in this championship, and how fast the padel is expanding around the world”.
