Street Padel «La Caixa» in Zamora

Padel triumphed in Zamora, and its next city is Almansa.

Padel became the center of attention in the city of Zamora during the week of July 23rd to 29th thanks to STREET PADEL “La Caixa”. This time it was organized in the Plaza de La Marina Española, with a padel and padelito with bleachers, tents and other elements to allow all the planned activities.

Thanks to STREET PADEL “La Caixa” many citizens of Zamora were able to see the padel court and what is this sport that we love so much. As for the activities developed, we can say that the padelito, as in previous occasions, was a great success: more than 300 children visited the court during the week, participating in daily tournaments, practices and various games.

The official tournament was attended by the best padelito players of Castilla-Leone, being the tournament with the highest level played to date in Zamora, with participants from Salamanca, Valladolid, Zamora and Madrid.

During Saturday night we enjoyed the Marathon, that lasted from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., playing matches until a tie break, and it was very popular, because of the idea itself and the schedule, as it was an alternative for a Saturday night. Padel was the king.

The winner, Javier Eguaras, was great all night.

During the event there was also time for sponsors, politicians, VIP guests etc., as we could see, testing the courts, executives of various sponsoring companies, such as directors and clients of “La Caixa,” manager of Orange Promovil Group, director of the NH Hotel Palacio del Duero, sports advisor Elvira Fernandez, and the deputy Clara San Damian and counselor Angel Crespo. LEO SEGARRA also had time to visit the facilities, test the court and demonstrate his good manners on the court, he played a match and chattad with his many fans who came to La Marina.

The culmination of this STREET PADEL “La Caixa” was played by some players who know a bit about the padel game, and they were in a bit of a morbid mood, as we could see Richi De las Heras and Juani Mieres playing an demonstration match against Fernando Poggi and Gustavo Pratto.

The match stood out for its spectacular play, delighting the audience, who paid more attention to the Latin American couple as they were the ones showing the best padel. The first set was won 6/2, but Fernando Pogi put on his overalls and started doing spectacular jumps to knock the balls out of the court and won the second set 6/4 and the third 7/6.

The event was organized by LEMAN SPORT, a company responsible for organizing sports events and STREET PADEL “La Caixa” throughout Spain.

The organizers noted that they hope to repeat this event in Zamora and help raise awareness and popularize padel in cities where it has yet to do so. They described the experience as very positive.

The next STREET PADEL “La Caixa” event will be held in Almansa from August 28th to September 3rd.

We would like to thank the sponsors without whom this event would not be possible, first of all “La Caixa,” which made a big bet on Street Padel by giving the project its name, but also the city hall and deputation of Zamora, Orange Promovil Group, Prialpan, La Tahona de la Rua, Construcciones Alfonso y Jesus, Ferca Network, Font Vella, Coca Cola, Caroche and Head, who provide all prizes and game balls for participants in the event.
