Our experience over the years tells us that the thickness of the glass is not relevant at the time of a breakage, so a 10mm or 12mm glass can be a good choice.
To avoid glass breakage on padel courts, the first thing to do is to assemble the glass correctly so that it is perfectly attached to the metal structure.
It is important to choose a suitable screw and we fix the glass with stainless steel screws with pvc bushing so that the screw is never in direct contact with the glass. We also use a brake nut and always use neoprene between the glass and the metal of the structure.
In addition to choosing good materials and quality installation, proper maintenance is also important because screws lose strength and need to be tightened from time to time.
Glass breakage can occur:
- Spontaneous breakage due to a thermal jump.
- Because the glass comes into direct contact with the metal of the structure.
- Glass breakage caused by a collision between glass panes.
- From a collision between the player and the steel elements (chains, rings, bracelets).
- By the existence of stones that touching the edge of the crystal.
- Because the structure is weak.
- Strong gusts of wind.
