Alejandra Salazar and Marta Marrero win in Zaragoza

Victoria en zaragoza Salazar y Marrero

A few days before the Estrella Damm Zaragoza Open, I asked myself: which couple will be the No. 1 winner in the women’s rankings? The competition in Zaragoza made it clear that the No. 1 ranking is in the hands of Alejandra Salazar and Marta Marrero. Our sincerest congratulations for the results so far in the 2016 World Padel Tour competition.

But let’s move on to the details of how the Estrella Damm Zaragoza Open final played out, as twins Mapi and Mayo Sanchez Alayeto achieved the qualification for the final after winning 6-2/6-2 over Gemma Triay and Lucia Sainz. The twins, who are coached by Jorge Martinez, made it clear that they were on their way to their goal and didn’t let Triay and Sainz beat them.

On the other hand, Alejandra Salazar and Marta Marrero are already regulars in the finals of the World Padel Tour, as they have reached 8 finals, winning 6 of them. But Carolina Navarro and Cecilia Reiter did not make it easy for them to reach the finals of Zaragoza. They won the first set 6-1, forcing Salazar and Marrero into a tie-break to win in two sets and reach the final.

And what can we say about the Estrella Damm Zaragoza Open final! It was a very attractive final as two of the strongest couples in the women’s professional padel circuit were on the padel court. Alejandra Salazar and Marta Marrero took to the court with the goal of beating the twins at home. And after a very calm match, Salazar and Marrero won 7-5/6-4 with 4 straight victories.

Congratulations to the couple!
